Traveler Information Available Soon for Waco District Motorists

Section 1B: SALADO (FM 2843 to FM 2484)

Down the Road
  • Continue right of way acquisition and utility relocation.
  • Start construction in early June.

Section 1C: Salado to belton (FM 2484 to us 190/fm 436)

Lane CLOSUREs
  • The northbound frontage road at Shanklin Rd. and the Shanklin Rd. crossover bridge will be closed in mid-May to complete the new intersection approach to the new Shanklin Rd. crossover bridge.
Milestones
  • The northbound frontage road at Amity Rd. and the Amity crossover structure is open.
Down the Road
  • Continue work on northbound frontage road from Amity Rd. to Loop 121.
  • Continue work on southbound frontage road from US 190 to Loop 121.
  • Continue work on guard rail on the crossover structures.
  • Continue work on intersection approaches to the crossovers.
  • Pour bridge deck for the northbound frontage-road bridge over the Lampasas River.
  • Work on setting concrete panels for the US 190 westbound flyover bridge deck.

Section 3A-1: TEMPLE TO TROY (N. LOOP 363 TO N. TROY CITY LIMIT)

  • Groundbreaking held April 5 in Troy.
  • Began preparing/clearing the right of way.
  • Began culvert work for the new S. Troy underpass (Love's Blvd.).
Down the Road
  • Continue relocating utilities.
  • Continue preparing right of way.
  • Continue culvert work and begin retaining walls for S. Troy underpass (Love's Blvd.).
  • Begin culvert work between Berger Rd. and FM 1237 (Pendleton exit).

Section 3B: LORENA TO HEWITT (WOODLAWN RD. TO SUN VALLEY BLVD./FM 2063)

Milestones
  • Dirtwork is proceeding for the northbound frontage road from S. Old Bruceville Rd. to Woodlawn Rd., along the southbound frontage road from N. FM 2837 to FM 1695, and along the northbound frontage road from FM 3148 to FM 2063.
  • Working on the bridges at Bullhide Creek, S. FM 2837 and N. FM 2837.
  • Preparing the northbound mainlaines' auxiliary lane and new exit ramp under FM 2063 for paving.
Down the Road

Section 5A: WACO TO WEST (N. LOOP 340 TO FM 1858)

Lane Closures
  • The Wiggins Rd. crossover is closed for demolition and is expected to be closed for 12-18 months. Tours Rd. (next crossing to the south) and Tokio Rd. (next crossing to the north) are open.
  • Main St. in Elm Mott is permanently closed to through traffic at the southbound frontage road.
Milestones
  • Poured the FM 1858 bridge deck.
  • Shifted the southbound mainlane traffic to new pavement over BUS 77.
  • Removed old Craven Ave. entrance and exit ramps.
Down the Road
  • Open the northbound exit ramp to Crest Dr.
  • Open the northbound entrance ramp from Craven Ave.
  • Complete the northbound frontage road between N. Loop 340 and BUS 77.
  • Set the retaining wall panels at FM 1858.
  • Continue work on the northbound frontage road between Tours Rd. and FM 1858.
  • Begin work on the southbound frontage road between Tours Rd. and FM 1858.
  • Continue work on the Craven Ave. and Meyers Ln. intersections.

Section 5B: WEST TO ABBOTT (FM 1858/TOKIO RD. TO FM 1304)

Milestones
  • Placed the temporary pavement for the traffic switch.
  • Began work on Marable St. and County Line Rd. overpasses.
  • Began cutting the new southbound frontage road to grade.
  • Continued utility relocations.
  • Began work on retaining walls at County Line Rd. and HCR 3102.
  • Continued constructing box culverts.
Down the Road
  • Begin excavation and embankment for the northbound frontage road from Abest R. to Abbott.
  • Move traffic onto temporary pavement.
  • Begin demo of the FM 1242 overpass.
  • Begin work on the center section of the mainlanes at the FM 1242 overpass.

Section 5C: ABBOTT TO SOUTH OF HILLSBORO (FM 1304 TO FM 310)

Milestones
  • Completed the Cobb Creek bridge.
  • Removed barrier for most of the northbound mainlanes.
  • Opened new northbound mainlane (third lane) between FM 1304 and FM 310.
  • Began opening ramps on the northbound side.
Down the Road
  • Begin placing the final asphalt surface on the frontage roads.
  • Remove existing pavement markings and install new markings on the mainlanes (beginning on the north end and progressing south, opening to three lanes after each night's work).
  • Finish all concrete pavement at the ramps and mainlane shoulders.
  • Open all remaining ramps.

SAFETY REST AREAS (HILL COUNTY)

Milestones
  • Completed embankment for service roads.
  • Began construction of outdoor picnic areas.
Down the Road
  • Continue preparing to pour slab for the northbound site.
  • Continue work on the southbound-side building.
