section 1B: SALADO (FM 2843 to FM 2484)

  • Opened the northbound frontage road from FM 2268 to FM 2484.
  • Closed Thomas Arnold crossing and demolished the old bridge.
Down the road
  • Continue construction of retaining walls at FM 2484 and FM 2268.
  • Begin constructing retaining walls between Salado Creek and Thomas Arnold along mainlanes.
  • Continue construction of northbound mainlanes from south end of project to Salado Creek.
  • Continue construction of the southbound frontage road south of FM 2268.
  • Continue construction of the South Main Street ramp.
  • Begin construction of the Thomas Arnold bridge over I-35.
  • Continue construction of FM 2484 bridge rail.
  • Continue construction of northbound mainlane bridge over Salado Creek.
  • Begin constructing mainlane detours between Salado Plaza and Salado Creek.

section 1C: Salado to belton (FM 2484 to us 190/fm 436)

  • Switched the existing northbound mainlane traffic to the west to allow for construction of the northbound mainlanes under Loop 121.
Down the Road
  • Continue the retaining wall construction at various locations.
  • Continue constructing ramp from north bound mainlane to US 190 Direct Connect.
  • Continue US 190 Direct Connect/flyover.
  • Continue construction of northbound mainlanes and ramp between Lp 121 and US 190.
  • Continue intersection construction at Lp 121 and frontage roads.

Section 2B: TEMPLE (S. LOOP 363 TO N. LOOP 363)

  • Continue constructing the storm sewer on the southbound and northbound frontage roads.
  • Continue constructing the northbound on-ramp between Midway Dr. and Loop 363.

section 3A-2: TROY to bruceville-eddy (N. TROY CITY LIMIT to woodlawn rd.)

lane closures
  • Until further notice, the southbound frontage road will be closed from Roberts Cemetery to Big Elm Rd. This will allow the demolition and rebuilding of the new frontage road and bridge over Big Elm Creek. Frontage-road traffic traveling south from Big Elm Rd. will have to enter the freeway, except for local traffic only, south of Big Elm Creek. A temporary turnaround has been constructed near Roberts Cemetery.
Milestones
  • Began working on the northbound frontage road near Big Elm Creek.
  • Began working at Old Moody and Grider St.
  • Began concrete paving for the new southbound mainlanes between Big Elm Rd. and Deer Creek.
Down the Road
  • Continue constructing the southbound frontage road from Big Elm Creek to Big Elm Rd. and from Old Blevins Rd. to FM 107. Continue utility relocations.
  • Continue the excavation and embankment for the new northbound frontage road from FM 107 to the railroad crossing in Bruceville-Eddy.
  • Continue building the road base on the northbound frontage road from FM 107 to the railroad crossing.
  • Continue constructing the new southbound mainlane from Big Elm Rd. to Old Blevins Rd.
  • Continue construction of the new I-35 overpass at Old Blevins Rd.
  • Continue working on the northbound frontage road near Big Elm Creek.
  • Continue working at Old Moody and Grider St.
  • Begin working on the new Union Pacific Railroad bridges (depends on utilities).

section 3B: LORENA TO HEWITT (WOODLAWN RD. TO SUN VALLEY BLVD./FM 2063)

  • Finished the new northbound mainlanes from FM 2148 to FM 2063/Sun Valley Blvd.
  • Switched traffic to the new bridge at S. FM 2837/Rosenthal Rd.
  • Finished setting beams at North Cow Bayou.
  • Finished pouring the bridge deck at FM 1695/Moonlight Dr.
  • Finished pouring the bridge deck at South Cow Bayou.
  • Convert southbound frontage road from Lorena to Bruce St. to one-way only.
  • Close rest areas.
Down the Road
  • Continue excavating for the northbound mainlanes at the Callan Ranch Rd. (formerly Telephone Rd.) overpass.
  • Finish work on Moonlight Rd. intersection.
  • Continue the new northbound mainlanes from S. Old Bruceville Rd. to FM 2837/Rosenthal Rd.
  • Begin switching traffic to the new northbound frontage road in Lorena.
  • Continue work on the intersection at the west end of the N. FM 2837/Old Lorena Rd. bridge and the southbound frontage road.
  • Construct the retaining wall at Callan Ranch Rd. (formerly Telephone Rd.).
  • Drill shafts for the northern portion of the FM 1695/Moonlight Dr. bridge.
  • Begin excavation for retaining walls at FM 1695/Moonlight Dr.
  • Set beams at Bullhide Creek.
  • Set beams for the southern portion of the S. FM 2837/Rosenthal Rd. bridge.

brazos RIVER BRIDGES (WACO)

lane closures
  • Access roads and turnarounds under I-35 on both sides of the river are closed.
  • The sidewalk crossing under I-35 on the south side of the Brazos River is closed as construction in the river continues.
Milestones
  • Completed the construction of the retaining wall in the northeast quadrant.
  • Began paving the bridge approach and Robinson Tower access points.
  • Finished installing the cable system on the southbound frontage road.
Down the Road
  • Continue building the bridge approaches in the northeast and southwest quadrants.
  • Continue pouring the bridge deck (concrete pavement) on the northbound and southbound frontage-road bridges.
  • Continue tensioning the cables on the northbound bridge.
  • Begin installing caps on the bridge pylons.
  • Continue pouring the deck on the southbound frontage road.
  • Complete paving the bridge approach and Robinson Tower access points.
  • Continue installing the lighting systems.
  • Extend drainage structures.
  • Pour traffic rail and sidewalk on northbound frontage road.
  • Construct southbound frontage road and driveway at Ranger Museum.

section 5A: WACO TO WEST (N. LOOP 340 TO FM 1858)

Lane Closures
  • Main St. in Elm Mott is permanently closed to through traffic at the southbound frontage road.
  • The Ross Rd. crossing is closed for the next several months.
Milestones
  • Switched southbound traffic to new pavement from FM 1858/Tokio Rd. to Tours Rd.
  • Demolished the old Ross Rd. underpass.
  • Completed hanging beams on northbound overpass at FM 308.
  • Opened the new overpass at Wiggins Rd.
Down the Road
  • Continue installing permanent signs from BUS 77 to Loop 340. (Once permanent signs are in place at the BUS 77, Craven Ave., and Meyers Ln. intersections, these intersections will change from four-way to two-way stops. The frontage-road traffic will not stop.)
  • Continue work on the retaining walls at FM 1858/Tokio Rd.
  • Erect an overhead bridge and install dynamic message signs just south of Crest Ave.
  • Complete paving at the FM 1858/Tokio Rd. intersection.
  • Begin connecting Wiggins Rd. underneath the new mainlane overpass.
  • Continue extending culverts to the west of I-35 at various locations between FM 1858/Tokio Rd. and Tours Rd.
  • Demolish the existing FM 3149/Tours Rd. underpass.
  • Construct northbound mainlane pavement between Ross Rd. and FM 3149/Tours Rd.
  • Begin building bridge deck on the northbound overpass at FM 308.
  • Shift northbound frontage-road traffic onto new pavement at the east side of the Ross Rd. interchange.
  • Shift southbound frontage-road traffic to existing southbound mainlanes from FM 1858/Tokio Rd. to Tours Rd.

section 5B: WEST TO ABBOTT (FM 1858/TOKIO RD. TO FM 1304)

Lane closures
  • The southbound exit 354 (the Marable St. exit) will remain closed during the construction of this portion of the southbound frontage road until a new exit is built. A message sign will notify the traveling public of the closure.
Milestones
  • Finished removing the old northbound mainlanes from County Line Rd. to FM 1242/Abbott.
  • Moved traffic onto the new northbound frontage road from FM 1242 to HCR 3102.
Down the Road
  • Continue seeding and stabilizing the new ditches throughout the project.
  • Continue the side-road tie-ins at the Marable St. intersection.
  • Continue placing the box culverts and other drainage.
  • Continue the embankment on the west side of the southbound frontage road at the Marable St. intersection.
  • Begin the concrete paving on the new northbound mainlanes between FM 1858/Tokio Rd. and FM 21/Oak St.
  • Continue building the new northbound mainlane overpass at FM 21/Oak St. in West.
  • Finish paving the west side of HCR 3102 and reopen.
  • Begin concrete pavement of the new northbound mainlanes from FM 1858 to County Line Rd.
  • Continue building the road base for the new southbound mainlanes from County Line Rd. to the end of the project near FM 1858/Tokio Rd.
  • Begin the installation of small signs and lighting.

section 5C: ABBOTT TO SOUTH OF HILLSBORO (FM 1304 TO FM 310)
