section 1B: SALADO (FM 2843 to FM 2484)

Milestones
  • Began constructing retaining walls between Salado Creek and Thomas Arnold along the mainlanes.
  • Began construction of the Thomas Arnold bridge over I-35.
  • Completed the first phase of the construction of the northbound mainlane bridge over Salado Creek.
  • Began constructing mainlane detours between Salado Plaza and Salado Creek.
Down the road
  • Continue construction of retaining walls at FM 2484 and FM 2268.
  • Continue construction of retaining walls between Salado Creek and Thomas Arnold along mainlanes.
  • Continue construction of northbound mainlanes from south end of project to Salado Creek.
  • Continue construction of the southbound frontage road south of FM 2268.
  • Continue construction of the South Main Street ramp.
  • Begin construction of the Thomas Arnold bridge over I-35.

section 1C: Salado to belton (FM 2484 to us 190/fm 436)

  • Resumed construction of the northbound I-35 to westbound US 190 flyover in Belton.

  • Continue the retaining wall construction at various locations.
  • Continue constructing ramp from north bound mainlane to US 190 Direct Connect.
  • Continue US 190 Direct Connect/flyover.
  • Continue construction of northbound mainlanes and ramp between Loop 121 and US 190.
  • Continue intersection construction at Loop 121 and frontage roads.

Section 2B: TEMPLE (S. LOOP 363 TO N. LOOP 363)

  • Completed demolition of the final buildings in the new right of way.
Down the Road
  • Continue constructing the storm sewer on the southbound and northbound frontage roads.
  • Continue constructing the northbound on-ramp between Midway Dr. and Loop 363.

section 3A-2: TROY to bruceville-eddy (N. TROY CITY LIMIT to woodlawn rd.)

lane closures
  • Until further notice, the southbound frontage road will be closed from Roberts Cemetery to Big Elm Rd. This will allow the demolition and rebuilding of the new frontage road and bridge over Big Elm Creek. Frontage-road traffic traveling south from Big Elm Rd. will have to enter the freeway, except for local traffic only, south of Big Elm Creek. A temporary turnaround has been constructed near Roberts Cemetery.
Milestones
  • Began constructing the new turnaround north of the railroad tracks in Bruceville-Eddy.
  • Began pouring the concrete paving for the new northbound frontage north of FM 107/MM 315.
Down the Road
  • Continue constructing the southbound frontage road from Big Elm Creek to Big Elm Rd. and from Old Blevins Rd. to FM 107.
  • Continue utility relocations.
  • Continue the excavation and embankment for the new northbound frontage road from FM 107 to the railroad crossing in Bruceville-Eddy.
  • Continue building the road base on the northbound frontage road from FM 107 to the railroad crossing.
  • Continue constructing the new southbound mainlane from Big Elm Rd. to Old Blevins Rd.
  • Continue construction of the new I-35 overpass at Old Blevins Rd.
  • Continue working on the northbound frontage road near Big Elm Creek.
  • Continue working at Old Moody and Grider St.
  • Begin working on the new Union Pacific Railroad bridges (depends on utilities).
  • Begin constructing new retaining wall at new turnaround north of railroad tracks in Bruceville-Eddy.

section 3B: LORENA TO HEWITT (WOODLAWN RD. TO SUN VALLEY BLVD./FM 2063)

Milestones
  • Finished drilling shafts for the northern portion of the FM 1695/Moonlight Dr. bridge.
  • Began excavation for the retaining walls at FM 1695/Moonlight Dr.
  • Finished setting beams at Bullhide Creek.
  • Finished setting beams for the southern portion of the S. FM 2837/Rosenthal Rd. bridge.
Down the Road
  • Continue excavating for the northbound mainlanes at the Callan Ranch Rd. (formerly Telephone Rd.) overpass.
  • Finish work on Moonlight Rd. intersection.
  • Continue the new northbound mainlanes from S. Old Bruceville Rd. to FM 2837/Rosenthal Rd.
  • Begin switching traffic to the new northbound frontage road in Lorena.
  • Continue work on the intersection at the west end of the N. FM 2837/Old Lorena Rd. bridge and the southbound frontage road.
  • Complete the retaining wall at Callan Ranch Rd. (formerly Telephone Rd.).
  • Switch southbound mainlane traffic to the new pavement from Sun Valley Blvd. to Moonlight Dr.
  • Complete columns and caps at FM 1695.
  • Make traffic pattern changes as FM 1695 and FM 2837 (northbound and southbound).
  • Pour rail at N. FM 2837.
  • Pour deck at S. FM 2837.

brazos RIVER BRIDGES (WACO)

lane closures
  • Access roads and turnarounds under I-35 on both sides of the river are closed.
  • The sidewalk crossing under I-35 on the south side of the Brazos River is closed as construction in the river continues.
Milestones
  • Completed paving the bridge approach and Robinson Tower access points.
  • Completed tensioning the cables on the northbound bridge.
Down the Road
  • Continue building the bridge approaches in the northeast and southwest quadrants.
  • Continue pouring the bridge deck (concrete pavement) on the northbound and southbound frontage-road bridges.
  • Begin installing caps on the bridge pylons.
  • Continue pouring the deck on the southbound frontage road.
  • Continue installing the lighting systems.
  • Extend drainage structures.
  • Pour traffic rail and sidewalk on the northbound frontage road.
  • Construct the southbound frontage road and driveway at the Ranger Museum.
  • Open the northbound frontage road bridge (target date: March 17).
  • Close the northbound ramps (target date: March 17).
  • Close the southbound on-ramp (target date: March 23).
  • Open the southbound frontage road bridge (target date: April 3).

section 5A: WACO TO WEST (N. LOOP 340 TO FM 1858)

Lane Closures
  • Main St. in Elm Mott is permanently closed to through traffic at the southbound frontage road.
  • The Ross Rd. crossing is closed for the next several months.
  • The Tours Rd. crossing is closed for the next several months.
Milestones
  • Switched southbound traffic to the new pavement from FM 1858/Tokio Rd. to Tours Rd.
  • Finished connecting Wiggins Rd. underneath the new mainlane overpass.
  • Completed both turnarounds at the Wiggins Rd. overpass.
  • Demolished the existing FM 3149/Tours Rd. underpass.
  • Completed the bridge deck on the northbound overpass at FM 308.
  • Began constructing the bridge rail on the northbound overpass at FM 308.
  • Began drilling shafts for columns for the mainline overpass at Ross Rd.
  • Shifted northbound frontage-road traffic onto the new pavement on the east side of the Ross Rd. interchange.
Down the Road
  • Continue installing permanent signs from BUS 77 to Loop 340. (Once permanent signs are in place at the BUS 77, Craven Ave., and Meyers Ln. intersections, these intersections will change from four-way to two-way stops. The frontage-road traffic will not stop.)
  • Continue work on the retaining walls at FM 1858/Tokio Rd.
  • Erect an overhead bridge and install dynamic message signs just south of Crest Ave.
  • Complete paving at the FM 1858/Tokio Rd. intersection.
  • Complete construction of the bridge rail on the northbound overpass at FM 308.
  • Continue extending culverts to the west of I-35 at various locations between FM 1858/Tokio Rd. and Tours Rd.
  • Construct northbound mainlane pavement between Ross Rd. and FM 3149/Tours Rd.
  • Shift southbound frontage-road traffic to existing southbound mainlanes from FM 1858/Tokio Rd. to Tours Rd.
  • Open the northbound exit ramp to Hilltop Rd.
  • Begin construction of the northbound mainlane overpass at Ross Rd.
  • Begin construction of northbound structures at Tours. Rd.

section 5B: WEST TO ABBOTT (FM 1858/TOKIO RD. TO FM 1304)

Lane closures
  • The southbound exit 354 (the Marable St. exit) will remain closed during the construction of this portion of the southbound frontage road until a new exit is built. A message sign will notify the traveling public of the closure.
Milestones
  • Finished paving the west side of HCR 3102.
  • Reopened the west side of HCR 3102.
  • Began concrete pavement of the new northbound mainlanes from FM 1858 to County Line Rd.
  • Began installing small signs and lighting.
Down the Road
  • Continue seeding and stabilizing the new ditches throughout the project.
  • Continue placing the box culverts and other drainage.
  • Continue the embankment on the west side of the southbound frontage road at the Marable St. intersection.
  • Continue building the new northbound mainlane overpass at FM 21/Oak St. in West.
  • Install soil nails for retaining walls at the FM 2114 northbound overpass.
  • Continue concrete pavement of the new northbound mainlanes from FM 1858 to County Line Rd.
  • Continue building the road base for the new southbound mainlanes from County Line Rd. to the end of the project near FM 1242.
  • Continue placing hot mix for the base on the proposed northbound and southbound mainlanes.
  • Continue installation of small signs and lighting.

section 5C: ABBOTT TO SOUTH OF HILLSBORO (FM 1304 TO FM 310)
