Construction updates

Section 1B: SALADO (FM 2843 to FM 2484)

Milestones
  • Completed installing box culvert north of FM 2484 on the southbound frontage road.
  • Opened the first half of the new FM 2484 bridge.
  • Demolished the old FM 2484 bridge.
Down the Road
  • Complete cleanup of the old FM 2484 bridge.
  • Begin construction on the second half of the FM 2484 bridge.
  • Reconstruct the FM 2268 retaining wall.
  • Continue constructing southbound mainlanes from the south end of the project through Thomas Arnold.
  • Continue construction of the retaining walls at FM 2484.
  • Continue construction of the retaining walls between Salado Creek and Thomas Arnold along the mainlanes.
  • Continue construction of the northbound frontage road from North Main St. to FM 2484.
  • Continue construction of the southbound frontage road on each side of FM 2484.

Section 1C: Salado to belton (FM 2484 to us 190/fm 436)

  • Continue constructing the southbound mainlanes and culverts from FM 2484 to Loop 121.
  • Continue the intersection construction at Loop 121 and the frontage roads.
  • Continue constructing the northbound mainlanes and ramp between Loop 121 and US 190.
  • Continue constructing the US 190 direct connect/flyover.
  • Continue constructing the ramp from the northbound mainlanes to the US 190 direct connect/flyover.
  • Continue the intersection signal installation FM 436/US 190 and frontage roads.

SECTION 2B: TEMPLE (S. LOOP 363 TO N. LOOP 363)

Milestones
  • Completed demolition of the old Spur 290/3rd St. bridge.
  • Completed the on- and off-ramp reversals for northbound I-35 between Loop 363 and Midway Dr.
  • Moved the southbound frontage road traffic near Industrial Blvd. to the detour section to allow further work on the Spur 290 overpass structures and construction of the new southbound frontage road in this area.
  • Opened the reconfigured northbound entrance ramp south of N. Loop 363 (facilitating construction of the new northbound frontage road to service Buccee's).
Down the Road
  • Continue constructing the on- and off-ramps for southbound I-35 between Midway Dr. and Loop 363.
  • Continue installing culverts north of S. Loop 363 across the northbound frontage road, off ramp, and mainlanes.
  • Continue constructing the storm sewer on the southbound and northbound frontage roads north of Nugent.
  • Continue building the bridge abutments and interior columns at Spur 290.
  • Continue the concrete paving on Spur 290.
  • Continue constructing the southbound frontage road bridges at BNSF Railroad's Belco and Lampas-Sub lines.

Section 3A-1: TEMPLE TO TROY (N. LOOP 363 TO N. TROY CITY LIMIT)

  • Began work on the northbound frontage road between Loop 363 and Berger/Hart Rd.
  • Began work on the direct connect turn from the southbound frontage road to westbound Loop 363.
  • Began work on driveways along the southbound frontage road.

  • Continue work on the northbound frontage road between Loop 363 and Berger/Hart Rd.

Section 3A-2: TROY to bruceville-eddy (N. TROY CITY LIMIT to woodlawn rd.)

lane closures
  • Until further notice, the southbound frontage road will be closed from Roberts Cemetery to Big Elm Rd. This will allow the demolition and rebuilding of the new frontage road and bridge over Big Elm Creek. Frontage-road traffic traveling south from Big Elm Rd. will have to enter the freeway, except for local traffic only, south of Big Elm Creek. A temporary turnaround has been constructed near Roberts Cemetery.
Milestones
  • Closed the southbound entrance ramp south of FM 107 to build a detour to the new southbound mainlanes pavement.
  • Began work on the new northbound frontage road between Big Elm Creek and Big Elm Rd.
  • Began work on the new N. Eddy overpass.
Down the Road
  • Continue constructing the southbound frontage road from Big Elm Creek to Big Elm Rd.
  • Continue construction of the new I-35 overpass at Old Blevins Rd.
  • Continue constructing the new southbound mainlane from Big Elm Rd. to Old Blevins Rd.
  • Continue working on the new Union Pacific Railroad bridges.
  • Continue constructing the retaining wall at the new turnaround north of the railroad tracks in Bruceville-Eddy.
  • Continue constructing a retaining wall at the northbound frontage-road bridge.
  • Continue working on the southbound frontage road from UPRR to FM 107.
  • Continue working on the northbound mainlanes from FM 107 to UPRR.

Section 3B: LORENA TO HEWITT (WOODLAWN RD. TO SUN VALLEY BLVD./FM 2063)

Milestones
  • Opened the northbound mainlanes from Callan Ranch Rd. to E. FM 2837/Rosenthal Rd.
  • Shifted northbound traffic to detour near Sun Valley Rd./FM 2063.
  • Completed new southbound pavement from FM 2063/Sun Valley Blvd. to FM 1695/Moonlight Dr.
Down the Road
  • Switch the southbound mainlane traffic to the new pavement from FM 2063/Sun Valley Blvd. to FM 1695/Moonlight Dr.
  • Shift southbound frontage road traffic at North Cow Bayou to the new bridge.
  • Open the northbound frontage road to two lanes from south end of project to Lorena.
  • Complete the new Woodlawn bridge.

BRAZOS RIVER BRIDGES (WACO)

Down the Road
  • Continue installing the lighting systems.
  • Install sidewalks and landscaping along the river.
  • Overall job completion and clean up.

Section 5A: WACO TO WEST (N. LOOP 340 TO FM 1858)

Lane Closures
  • Main St. in Elm Mott is permanently closed to through traffic at the southbound frontage road.
Milestones
  • Shifted southbound mainlane traffic at Ross Rd. and Tours Rd. to the new northbound pavement.
  • Started construction of the west end of Ross Rd. intersection.
  • Started construction of the inside lane of the southbound frontage road between Ross Rd and FM 3149/Tours Rd.
  • The Ross Rd. crossing has been reopened.
Down the Road
  • Continue construction of the retaining walls adjacent to the northbound frontage road at FM 308 in Elm Mott.
  • Complete the southbound mainlane pavement.
  • Open the third northbound and southbound mainlanes from FM 3149/Tours Rd. to FM 1858/Tokio Rd.

Section 5B: WEST TO ABBOTT (FM 1858/TOKIO RD. TO FM 1304)

Lane closures
  • The southbound exit 354 (the Marable St. exit) will remain closed during the construction of this portion of the southbound frontage road until a new exit is built. A message sign will notify the traveling public of the closure.
  • The northbound Marable St. exit is closed and will remain closed until the new ramp can be built (after the new northbound frontage road is built).
Milestones
  • Completed the new northbound exit ramps for FM 2114 and County Line Rd.
  • Completed the new northbound entrance ramps for FM 2114 and Marable St.
  • Completed paving the final sections of the northbound mainlane between the beginning of the project and County Line Rd.
  • Began placing stone for the pilasters on the retaining walls.
Down the Road
  • Continue building the new northbound frontage road through West from the beginning of the project to Marable St., including driveways, intersections, and U-turn lanes under FM 2114.
  • Continue building the new northbound exit ramps for Marable St.
  • Continue building the new northbound entrance ramps for FM 1858/Tokio Rd.
  • Complete pouring concrete for the new southbound mainlanes.
  • Continue painting the retaining walls throughout the project.
  • Continue placing stone for the pilasters on the retaining walls.
  • Open northbound mainlanes to three lanes, weather permitting.
  • Begin work on the FM 2114 roadway and the FM 1242 roadway under I-35.
  • Move traffic onto the new northbound frontage road through West, weather permitting.
  • Place the final overlay and pavement markings on the frontage roads.
  • Complete installation of project lighting.
  • Complete installation of the final signage along the highway.
