Section 1B: SALADO (FM 2843 to FM 2484)

Milestones
  • Began constructing the final south bound main lane segment from Thomas Arnold south to the end of project.
Down the Road
  • Begin constructing northbound mainlane north of Main St. to the end of the project.
  • Move traffic to the new northbound frontage road pavement from North Main St. to FM 2484.
  • Remove the last portion of the Salado Creek mainlane Bridge
  • Complete the FM 2268 southbound exit ramp.
  • Continue constructing the retaining walls at FM 2484.
  • Continue constructing the retaining walls between Salado Creek and Thomas Arnold along the mainlanes.
  • Complete constructing the northbound frontage road from North Main St. to FM 2484.
  • Continue constructing the southbound frontage road north and south of FM 2484.
  • Continue constructing the final southbound mainlane segment from Thomas Arnold south to the end of the project.
  • Begin constructing the final Salado Creek mainlane bridge segment.
  • Begin to seed and sod along the frontage roads.

Section 1C: Salado to belton (FM 2484 to us 190/fm 436)

  • Continue constructing the southbound mainlanes and culverts from FM 2484 to Loop 121.
  • Continue the intersection construction at Loop 121 and the frontage roads.
  • Continue constructing the US 190 direct connect/flyover.
  • Continue constructing the ramp from the northbound mainlanes to the US 190 direct connect/flyover.
  • Continue installing traffic signals at the intersection of FM 436/US 190 and the frontage roads.
  • Install traffic signals at the intersection of Loop 121 and I-35.
  • Complete all the signal work and have the signals operational.
  • Complete the northbound frontage road driveway connections.
  • Continue constructing the southbound mainlanes and frontage roads from Loop 121 southward.

SECTION 2B: TEMPLE (S. LOOP 363 TO N. LOOP 363)

  • Continue constructing the storm sewer on the southbound and northbound frontage roads north of Nugent throughout the project.
  • Continue building the bridge abutments and interior columns at Spur 290.
  • Continue the concrete paving on Spur 290.
  • Continue constructing the southbound frontage road bridges at BNSF Railroad's Belco and Lampas-Sub lines.
  • Continue constructing retaining wall on the northbound frontage road by Carpenter's and the BNSF Rail Road Underpass.
  • Continue constructing retaining wall on the southbound frontage road at Spur 290 underpass.
  • Continue constructing retaining walls on the southbound frontage road at the BNSF Railroad overpass.
  • Move northbound mainlane traffic to Detour 64 by the end of the month to facilitate construction of the eastern span for the Spur 290 underpass and turnarounds.
  • Complete installation of shoring on the western end of the BNSF Railroad Underpass to facilitate installation of the BNSF Railroad Underpass Sho-Fly Structure.

Section 3A-1: TEMPLE TO TROY (N. LOOP 363 TO N. TROY CITY LIMIT)

  • Began concrete paving on the northbound frontage road between Loop 363 and Berger/Hart Rd.
  • Began work on Little Elm Bridge abutments and caps on the northbound frontage road.

Section 3A-2: TROY to bruceville-eddy (N. TROY CITY LIMIT to woodlawn rd.)

lane closures
  • Until further notice, the southbound frontage road will be closed from Roberts Cemetery to Big Elm Rd. This will allow the demolition and rebuilding of the new frontage road and bridge over Big Elm Creek. Frontage-road traffic traveling south from Big Elm Rd. will have to enter the freeway, except for local traffic only, south of Big Elm Creek. A temporary turnaround has been constructed near Roberts Cemetery.
MILESTONES
  • Completed construction of the new I-35 overpass at Old Blevins Rd.
  • Completed constructing the new southbound mainlane from Big Elm Rd. to Old Blevins Rd.
  • Began construction of the new northbound mainlane between Big Elm Rd and Old Blevins Rd.
Down the Road
  • Continue constructing the southbound frontage road from Big Elm Creek to Big Elm Rd.
  • Continue working on the new Union Pacific Railroad bridges.
  • Continue constructing the retaining wall at the new turnaround north of the railroad tracks in Bruceville-Eddy.
  • Continue constructing a retaining wall at the northbound frontage-road bridge.
  • Continue working on the southbound frontage road from UPRR to FM 107.
  • Continue working on the northbound mainlanes from FM 107 to UPRR.

Section 3B: LORENA TO HEWITT (WOODLAWN RD. TO SUN VALLEY BLVD./FM 2063)

  • Began laying the final 2-inch hot-mix asphalt surface on the northbound frontage road from Bruceville-Eddy to S. FM 2837.
Down the Road
  • Continue laying the final 2-inch hot-mix asphalt surface on the northbound frontage road from Bruceville-Eddy to S. FM 2837.
  • Demo the existing southbound main lane bridge over Woodlawn Rd.
  • Continue construction of the southbound frontage road from S. FM 2837 to Bruceville-Eddy.
  • Switch southbound traffic on to new pavement from W. FM-2837 to E. FM 2837 in Lorena.
  • Continue construction of southbound frontage road from Sun Valley Blvd. to Moonlight Dr.
  • Demolish North and South Cow bridges on the old southbound main lanes.

BRAZOS RIVER BRIDGES (WACO)

  • Bridge light completion ceremony.
  • Complete testing and operational training for the decorative lighting systems.
  • Install sidewalks and landscaping along the river.
  • Overall job completion and clean up.

Section 4A: WACO ACCESS ROADS (MLK TO TAYLOR)

Lane Closures
  • North-to-south access roads and the turnaround from MLK Blvd. under I-35 at the UPRR crossing have been permanently closed. New access roads and railroad crossing bridges will be constructed to replace them.
Down the Road
  • Close southbound exit ramp #335C to MLK Blvd. to install new drainage structures underneath.
  • Continue excavating and installing new box culverts on both sides of the highway.

Section 5A: WACO TO WEST (N. LOOP 340 TO FM 1858)

Lane Closures
  • Main St. in Elm Mott is permanently closed to through traffic at the southbound frontage road.
Milestones
  • Completed the southbound mainlane pavement.
  • Switched southbound traffic on to new pavement and structures between Ross Rd. and FM 3149/Tours Rd. and opened the third southbound mainlane throughout the project.
Down the Road
  • Continue constructing the retaining walls adjacent to the northbound frontage road at FM 308 in Elm Mott.
  • Complete construction of the northbound frontage road and the FM 308 intersection in Elm Mott.
  • Continue the northbound mainlane construction at FM 308 in Elm Mott and open the third northbound mainlane throughout the project.
  • Continue asphalt paving for northbound and southbound frontage roads between Hilltop Rd. and FM 1858/Tokio Rd.
  • Finish installation of traffic features: signs, traffic signals at FM 308, and illumination.
  • Move the portable concrete traffic barrier and restripe northbound mainlanes between Ross Rd. and FM 3149/Tours Rd. to open the third northbound mainlane in this area.
  • Complete the final paving for the southbound frontage road from Hilltop Rd. to Wiggins Rd. and the northbound frontage road from Hilltop Rd. to FM 1858/Tokio Rd.

Section 5B: WEST TO ABBOTT (FM 1858/TOKIO RD. TO FM 1304)

Milestones
  • Completed placement of the final overlay and pavement markings on the frontage roads.
  • Completed and opened new northbound Marable St. exit.
  • Began placing landscaping block, sidewalks and ADA ramps at the FM 2114 intersection.
Down the Road
  • Continue work on the FM 2114 roadway and the FM 1242 roadway under I-35.
  • Complete project lighting.
  • Install traffic signals.
  • Begin seeding and landscaping.
  • Install driveways.
  • Pavement repair at various locations.
  • Complete the new northbound frontage road through West from the beginning of the project to Marable St., including driveways, intersections, and U-turn lanes under FM 2114.
  • Continue placing landscaping block, sidewalks, and ADA ramps at the FM 2114 intersection.
