McLennan County Becoming Home to a New Kind of Farming

Located only about one mile from I-35, a $13 million solar farm will soon be constructed on 90-acres of McLennan County farmland near Bruceville-Eddy, off Franklin Road. MILESTONES
  • Completed traffic switch from the old overpass structure at Adams and Central Ave. to the new Adams and Central Bridges.
  • Completed demolition of the existing northbound mainlane elevated section.
  • Completed demolition of the existing BNSF Lampasas Sub Overpass
  • Completed demolition of the existing BNSF Belco Overpass.
Down the Road
  • Continue installing the concrete rail along the southbound frontage road at the 57th St. underpass and turnarounds.
  • Continue constructing the retaining wall on the east side of the I-35 Nugent Ave. underpass.
  • Continue constructing the northbound frontage road from Ira Young St. through Avenue H.
  • Begin construction of the final phase of the overpass at the BNSF Lampasas Sub railroad crossing.
  • Begin construction of the northbound mainlanes and northbound frontage road overpasses at the BNSF Belco Yard railroad.
  • Begin constructing northbound mainlane pavement from Adams and Central Ave. Interchange north to BNSF Belco Yard Overpasses.
  • Begin constructing northbound mainlane pavement from BNSF Belco Overpass north through the remainder of project.
  • Begin excavation and installation of retaining wall No. 1 in the depressed section.

Section 3A-1: TEMPLE TO TROY (N. LOOP 363 TO N. TROY CITY LIMIT)

  • Continue work on the east half of the new southbound frontage road between FM 107 and N. Eddy Dr.
  • Complete the new northbound mainlanes overpass at Big Elm Rd.
  • Continue construction of the northbound mainlanes bridge at Big Elm Creek.
  • Continue paving the northbound frontage road between Old Blevins Rd. and FM 107.
  • Continue working on the retaining walls at the new FM 107 underpass.
  • Start working on the new northbound mainlane pavement from Big Elm Creek to Big Elm Rd.

SECTION 4A: WACO ACCESS ROADS (MLK TO TAYLOR)

LANE CLOSURES
  • North-to-south access roads and the turnaround from MLK Blvd. under I-35 at the UPRR crossing have been permanently closed. New access roads and railroad crossing bridges will be constructed to replace them.
  • The southbound frontage road turnaround between Forrest St. and UPRR has been closed permanently at Cherry St.
  • Forrest St. Bridge is closed.

  • Started construction of the southbound frontage road entrance to I-35.
  • Completed pouring pavement on the northbound frontage road lanes.
Down the Road
  • Complete the new pavement along the northbound and southbound frontage roads.
  • Begin striping new northbound and southbound frontage roads.
  • Begin construction of northbound frontage road entrance to I-35.
  • Continue working with the construction I-35 exit to southbound frontage road.
  • Open new northbound and southbound frontage roads.
  • Complete installing the manholes, inlets, and lateral lines on both sides of the highway.
