I-35 from Corn Hill (Bud Stockton Loop) to FM 972

Overview

This project converted the northbound and southbound I-35 frontage roads between Corn Hill and FM 972 from two-way to one-way traffic. In addition, nine entrance and exit ramps were built within the project limits.

Project Description

  • Convert existing two-way northbound and southbound frontage roads to one-way frontage roads
  • Remove two entrance ramps and three exit ramps:
    • Two southbound exit ramps
    • One northbound exit ramp
    • One southbound entrance ramp
    • One northbound entrance ramp
  • Construct four entrance ramps and five exit ramps:
    • Three southbound exit ramps
    • Two northbound exit ramps
    • Two southbound entrance ramps
    • Two northbound entrance ramps

Funding

  • Project development funded by the Williamson County Road Bond Program
  • Construction funded by Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and TxDOT
  • Construction cost: $10.7 million

Schedule

  • Finalized schematic and environmental documentation: October 2016
  • Begin Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E): January 2016
  • Complete PS&E: early 2019
  • Construction letting: early 2019
  • Construction start: May 2019
  • Construction completion: February 2022
